Last season, the first team were 4-1 up at Earlsmead on Boxing Day, only to draw 5-5, a result that felt like a defeat. This season, there was another goalfest, this time Harrow Borough winning 5-4.
In terms of the performance from the Greens, defensively once again it was horrible, but in the first half, going forward, a number of chances were created. However, the second half was far more disappointing, with Harrow always looking like the more likely winners.
Harrow were ahead in the 2nd minute, when Joshua Webb, the only player to score more than one goal in the game, found the back of the net. Five minutes later, Dave Diedhiou met a Sam Murphy corner with his head to celebrate his return from injury with a goal for the equaliser. By the 11th minute Harrow were 2-1 ahead thanks to Harry Newman, and in the 17th minute things were level again as Murphy converted a spot kick after Reis Stanislaus was tripped just inside the box.
Francis Babalola made it 3-2 to Harrow in the 31st minute, but within a minute Casey Maclaren had equalised for a third time with a piledriver of a shot from the edge of the area. Shortly before half-time the Greens took the lead for the only time in the game as Stanislaus scored with a drive that was the equal of that from Maclaren.
When the teams came out for the second half the visitors took the game to the Greens and were rewarded with a penalty in the 50th minute, converted by Joshua Webb. The winner came in the 73rd minute when lax defending allowed Sahr Kabba, on loan from Wealdstone, to score, and the visitors spurned a number of other chances throughout the half.
The Greens did have chances in the second half to score, Arthur Lee saw a header fly narrowly wide of the goal, whilst Karl Oliyide saw a shot on the turn go over the bar.
