Gary McCann pulled no punches when he talked about the defeat against Leatherhead.

He said, "This was a hugely disappointing performance. We were outplayed and outfought

"We have had far too many really bad first halves of late and not had a real chance to get back into the game. We are not combative enough, especially in the first half.

"I made the change at half-time, taking off Andre Da Costa, not because he was the lesser player, but I had to change our shape.

"We were better in the second half, but apart from the penalty appeal early on, we didn't ask enough questions of their defence.

"The two new boys up front certainly made a big difference, but I am not sure either are ready to start because they have not been starting matches because of injury recently.

"Aaron Tumwa would have started on Saturday, but he had a family emergency and we knew that Jerome Federico would be unavailable for the match for business reasons, so we had to deal with this disruption.

"But, and I must stress this, that is not an excuse for the defensive performance on Saturday. We have to be better, stronger - mentally and physically - in that and other areas of the pitch.”
