The recent AGM marked the 10th anniversary of the creation of the Supporters Trust. The Trust worked hard to keep the club going against all odds and these efforts have now been rewarded by our recent move to Silver Jubilee Park. Allied to a thriving youth set-up, the future of Hendon Football Club is brighter now than it has been at any other time in the past 10 years.
But while we are on an upwards trajectory in many respects, membership of the Trust has started to dwindle. In 2006/7, the Trust's first year, we had 278 members. Membership peaked in 2007/8 at 286 but numbers then started to drop and, at the time of writing, only 134 members have paid their subscriptions for the 2016/17 membership year.
Trust membership costs just £10 a year. While the income from Trust memberships, like all income, is very important to the club, of far greater importance is the fact that Trust membership gives supporters a real stake in our great club. We are, after all, a fans-owned club and the more people who join or rejoin the Trust the stronger we will become and the further we can go.
Whether you are someone who has never joined the Trust before or you are a lapsed Trust member, please consider joining or rejoining now and let's see if we can make 2016/17 a record Trust membership year. That would be a great testament to all of the hard work that the Trust Board, the Club Board, the Supporters Association and our band of volunteers have put in over the past 10 years.
If you'd like to join or rejoin the Trust, please speak to Simon Lawrence on any matchday or drop him a line at simon.hendon@btinternet.com.
