Hendon manager Gary McCann was very pleased to have picked up a second win against fellow strugglers in seven days.
"Our options were challenged going into the game," McCann admitted. "We had to make changes in key areas of the field, in defence and midfield, and I could not be happier with the result.
"Our two centre-backs, defensive midfielders and full-backs created a bank of six and along with Joe made it very difficult to get past. There was a togetherness about us in the game which was much like the way were in other seasons.
"The pitch was very difficult and when you get the result in difficult conditions it is that more satisfying. That type of surface is a great leveller and I think we coped with it much better.
"We could have been a little better in possession in the first half, so I stressed we should force them to play from deeper in their defence and force them to make errors. That's exactly what happened with the second goal when Taggart closed down Vanderhyde, which led to a poor clearance by the goalkeeper.
"We've now beaten two of the teams below us. If we can do the same against Lewes or even get four points from the next two games, I will be very happy.
"We're on 41 points and we have set our target at 50 points, so being on 45 with nine games to go, would mean we can look forward to next season and have a look at some of our very promising youth."
