Gary McCann was delighted to reach the last four of the London Senior Cup, but admitted that the performance had not been as good as he had wanted.
"Of course, the vital thing in the later stages of a cup competition is to win, and it is more important than the overall performance," he said.
"It wasn't a good game and, we didn't play particularly well, but we did get the victory. The team was selected with the weekend in mind and the balance was not ideal.
"I have not been happy with the central defensive pairings over the course of the season and we have tried most combinations. The two who played there Tuesday have both done it before and give us food for thought.
"Full credit to Croydon. They played well above what their league position suggests and they made it hard for us.
"But we are now in the London Senior Cup semi-final again and that was what we set out to do."
