The first team's long league unbeaten run came to an end this evening as East Thurrock United won 2-1 at Earlsmead. The last time the Greens lost in the league was on 31st January at Peacehaven & Telscombe, since when the squad had remained unbeaten in 21 league fixtures. It is also the first home league defeat since the end of August 2014, when Enfield Town were the victors.
The Rocks took the lead in the 25th minute through Lewis Smith, before Sam Murphy equalised from the penalty spot eleven minutes later. The winner game deep into stoppage time when Smith found the back of the net again.
Next up for the Greens is the long trip to Leiston on Saturday afternoon, when they will be keen to ensure they bounce back from tonight's disappointment.
