It has been announced this morning that Charlie Goode has signed for SkyBet League One side Scunthorpe United on a two year contract.

Charlie, who is still only 19, joined us from AFC Hayes in November 2014, and was a firm fixture in the side throughout the rest of the season, and his impressive performances in the back four were rewarded by a call up to the England C squad, for whom he played against Republic of Ireland U21s just a few days ago.

Whilst his time with us was only short, he played a huge part in our success last season, earning two cup winners medals in the process in the London Senior Cup and the Robert Dyas (Isthmian) League Cup.

Gary McCann was full of praise for Charlie when he spoke to the website last night. He said, "The minute Charlie walked through the door you could see he was destined for bigger things.

"He's been an absolute credit to himself. His performances have belied his age, and I am not surprised that a League One club has signed him on a two year deal.

"I'm confident that he will settle quickly and I am also sure he will progress further.

"He is a top lad and a top player, and his progression is a fitting tribute to his performances and great recognition for all involved at the football club."

We are sure that all our supporters will join us in wishing Charlie every success as he takes the next step in his football career. We'll all be keeping our eyes on his progress in the months and years to come.
