Speaking after the League Cup Final victory A very proud Hendon manager Gary McCann said, "It was one of those special nights that we can all savour, one we will look back on and reminisce about.
"You don't get to play in enough cup finals in your career – and that goes for almost every player. That is why you have to get over the finish line in a final. No one remembers who was runner-up.
"We started slowly, but for the last half-hour of the first half I thought we were excellent. In the second half, it was almost like defence vs attack. But they were chasing the game and we were protecting what we had. Admittedly, we did not retain the ball as well as we could have.
"However, we defended better than they did and we looked really dangerous on the counter-attack. Andre's second goal was a perfect example of that, and it was a strike worthy of winning any match.
"It has taken a superhuman effort from everyone in the squad. We have gone 19 games unbeaten, sit second in the League and now we are League Cup winners. I am so proud of everyone and what they achieved."
