Gary McCann was thrilled to have reached the final of the Robert Dyas (Isthmian) League Cup. He said, "I was really pleased for every one of the players and management team. They have given me so much in the way of commitment recently.
"This is a fitting tribute and reward for a near-perfect performance. We had to deal with a lot of adversity, but we came through it.
"I had discussed with the management team about playing Leon Smith instead of Kezie who has been in scintillating form. Leon has missed out of starts recently through no fault of his own and he came in tonight and he did everything but score.
"If it had not been for their goalkeeper and a couple of other things, we would have won the game a great deal more comfortably. The goalkeeper's save from Sam Murphy, at the end of an outstanding team move, was quite brilliant."
