Hendon manager Gary McCann was unsure whether it was a point won or two lost at Hampton. "I was disappointed to be pegged back," he said, "but not with the overall team performance.
"Given all the results at the weekend, it could be either a chance missed or - with all the teams around dropping points - a good point gained.
"We showed a very good response to the first equaliser and I was pleased with the resilience we showed after both goals.
"When they scored the second equaliser so late, we could have conceded again, but we are made of sterner stuff and, in fact, we had three really good chances to score in the last five minutes.
"I think our performance merited three points. We defended really well and looked dangerous up front.
"Had we gone two goals ahead I am sure we would have won, but at one goal up, they were always in with a chance."
