Speaking following last night's win a happy Gary McCann said, "I think the scoreline could and should have been much more in our favour. Both our centre-forwards could and should have got on the score sheet in their respective 45 minutes, but neither managed to score.
"It would have been very disappointing to lose to the team that Maidstone put out, but credit to them, they played very well and gave us a good game.
"The pitch was very difficult, but I am not going to use it as an excuse - and it was the same for both teams. It was worse for the forwards, who needed precision for their final pass, shot or cross. This also explains why many of our passes from midfield were wayward.
"But I'm overly pleased that we are through to the semi-finals and no players picked up any injuries. It would be perfection if we could end the season with two cup finals and promotion."
