We are sad to announce the passing of John Westmore earlier this week, a former player from the 1950s.
John sadly passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, and his funeral will take place at Hendon crematorium on Friday 19th December at 11am.
John made his debut in a 4-0 win at Millwall on 23rd October 1950 in the London Challenge Cup, a game in which he scored one of the goals, playing alongside a number of Hendon legends from that era including Laurie Topp, Dexter Adams, Bill Fisher and Roy Stroud.
He was never a regular in the first team, but made appearances throughout the 50s, and made his final appearance in a 2-0 defeat at Hitchin Town in the Athenian League on 16th April 1960.
He ended his Hendon career having scored 16 goals in 106 first team appearances, appearing in every season except the 1953/54 campaign.
