Gary McCann was absolutely delighted following yesterday's excellent win over Margate.
He said, "I was more than pleased with the result and the performance.
"We played against the best team we have come against this season and there is no doubt that we stood toe to toe against them. I think we certainly deserved something from the game and - for all but the first 15 and last 10 minutes were more than a match for them.
"We have a striker on form at the moment but we have to get goals from other parts of the field.
"It was only three points and it does not define our season, but it was great proof of our intent. It also shows where we are at, that teams are now setting themselves out to counter us.
"We showed great character after Kevin was sent off. I decided to sacrifice Aaron because we needed some to play alongside Lee O'Leary. Aaron has been struggling for a couple of days and we will have to assess half a dozen players before the Billericay game.
"We have to take injuries in your stride and it is easier when you are at the top of the table. But it tells the story that we had three of our key defensive players missing and we still beat one of the top sides in the division."
