The new 3G pitch at Silver Jubilee Park, the former home of Kingsbury Town FC, now the home base of Hendon FC's 15 youth teams, and, in the near future, the home Spartan South Midlands League Division 1 Edgware Town, will be officially opened on Friday evening.
Special guests at the unveiling ceremony will be Arsenal Ladies FC and England legend Rachel Yankey, former men's 10,000 metres athletics world record-holder David Bedford and the Mayor of Brent, Councillor Kana Naheerathan.
Rob Morris, Director of Hendon FC, who has been a guiding light behind the renovation at Silver Jubilee Park, of which this is just the first phase, along with Dan and Antony Manzi, of Edgware Town, said of the opening ceremony:
"This is a big step forward. We have worked incredibly hard to get the pitch ready for football and it will be a massive boost to the local community.
"I firmly believe that 3G pitches, such as this one, are the way forward for football clubs around the country, not only for ensuring games are played on time and on a superb, true surface, but also as a form of revenue for them."
The ceremony, at Silver Jubilee Park, Townsend Lane, Kingsbury, London NW9 7NE will commence at 6.30 pm on Friday evening.
