As we have mentioned previously on the website, we are delighted to announce that from next season Hendon FC will have a youth section again.
Fifteen teams from under 8s through to under 15s will be playing in the Harrow Youth League and the Watford Friendly League. That will be over 200 children playing in the green and white of Hendon.
The life blood of any club is the youth section and our primary aim is to connect with the local community around Kingsbury and Hendon and nearly all of the players live in or around the area.
The longer term goal is to develop young players and have them representing the first team and we will do this through our Academy programme.
Most of the teams have been playing under Springfield Youth who have a tradition for giving children opportunities through an ethos which is based on fun and fair play. They have been regular opponents for our youth teams in the past.
Springfield are a club with a great tradition that was formed in the mid 1970s and has been based in Kingsbury for all of that time.
The Springfield committee and players are excited at the prospect of being part of Hendon FC and we should see many new younger fans on the terraces for home games.
We are also to be joined by the AS Southgate team, managed by one of our former youth coaches Marco Armaldi and if they won their final game last Sunday, they will have won their league.
Also joining us with a new side will be former Hendon Youth and U21 managers Eamon Finn and Graeme Bourne.
Our youth programme will be an open and fully inclusive scheme giving opportunities to many youngsters including boys, girls and disability groups.
We aim to use football to aid learning with a fit and active lifestyle and promote social cohesion.
We will be an FA Charter Standard Club from the beginning of next season, and expect to have twenty teams under the Hendon Youth banner within the next two years.
It is also anticipated that we will be organising coaching courses and have in house training days to deliver our own style. Our coaches will have a caring, understanding approach with the children with the responsible view for parents peace of mind.
If you are interested in joining the youth section or require any further information, please email Rob Morris at admin@hendonfc.net and he will get back to you as soon as possible.
