Gary McCann was thrilled with the performance at Margate yesterday.
He said, "I thought from start to finish we were very good. If I have to be critical, the only disappointing aspects were that we gave away two sloppy goals, both of which were completely avoidable, and we didn’t take our chances.
"In times gone by, after conceding such a soft goal just before half-time, we would have fallen apart, but our confidence level and self-belief is so good at the moment, I was sure that we would pull it back. When we got into the dressing room, I said to the players that if we kept our goals against to two we would win the game.
"I stressed to the team when we were in the dressing room at 1.30 that we would have a togetherness and team spirit that they won't have. Their old players will be trying to impress to keep their jobs, the new ones will be showing what they can do, and they won't have played or trained together. Togetherness and team spirit are very important in teams at our level.
"Just as last week, although there were a number of very good individual performances it was the overall team show that pleased me most. We were very good in every department."
