Hendon picked up a well earned point at Maidstone United at an extremely wet Gallagher Stadium this afternoon in a 1-1 draw.
The first half was goalless, with both sides having periods of possession. Michael Bryan had the best opportunity for the Greens with a fierce drive, whilst Maidstone hit the crossbar with an overhead kick. The Greens were dealt a blow on the stroke of half time when Jefferson Louis was sent off for appearing to strike Alex Flisher across the face with his arm.
However, this didn't deter Hendon, and they took the game to the home side in the second half, taking the lead in the 49th minute when Anthony Thomas set up Carl McCluskey with a fine through ball. Unfortunately the lead only lasted five minutes as Zac Attwood equalised from a tight angle.
Both sides had chances to secure the points, with Dave Diedhiou having a goal disallowed for offside for the Greens.
It must be said that the game was an excellent advert for 3G pitches, it was a thoroughly enjoyable game of football played on a superb surface despite the heavy rain that fell for most of the game.
