Hendon were beaten by an experienced AFC Hornchurch side, but had it not been for a couple of defensive errors, the Greens could have taken something from the game. Hornchurch took the lead in the 10th minute thanks to a fine finish from Simon Parker, and the lead was doubled early in the second half courtesy of an own goal. However, Hendon fought their way back into the game when a fine move ended with Brian Haule touching the ball home from close range. In the remaining 25 minutes, the only side that looked like scoring were the Greens, but they found the Urchins defence in unforgiving mood and the Essex side held on to secure the points and in turn move closer to the play-off spots.
