A header from Dave Diedhiou five minutes from time saw ten man Hendon through to the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy this afternoon as they beat Bideford 1-0.
The win came the hard way after Casey Maclaren was sent off in the 8th minute, but the team knuckled down, worked very hard and ensured that the scores remained level at half-time.
That work-rate continued in the second half, and with twenty minutes to go Bideford were also reduced to ten men when their skipper Rob Farkins also saw red.
From there on, the Greens took control of the game, and moments after Dean Cracknell had replaced Carl McCluskey, Diedhiou rose to plant an excellent header into the back of the net.
Hendon held on for the last few minutes to ensure progression to a stage of the FA Trophy they haven't reached for a number of years.
