Gary McCann was pleased with the performance at Wealdstone on Monday evening despite losing, but both he and the squad were disappointed with some of the comments heard from the terraces during the game.
“I thought we did enough to get something out of the game. We lacked game time among the team, especially the front three. We created some excellent chances, but didn’t get much luck where it mattered most.
"I cannot fault any of the players' efforts; they worked very hard from minute one to the very end. You could see it in the dressing room after the game that they were very disappointed to have lost. It showed how much they cared.
"Everyone at the club knows that I will not accept players who do not give their all for the club - but that is not the case at the moment. The attitude of the whole squad has been excellent, even when individuals have not been involved on matchdays.
"We all get frustrated when things don't go right, but some of the comments from the terraces on Monday were below the belt.
"Whilst I understand that supporters are entitled to their opinions, getting on their backs when things aren't going well and particularly when players are low on confidence really doesn't help. Those are the times that they really need our supporters getting behind them.
"We don't have the resources of many clubs at our level and maybe sometimes we all need to take a reality check. Remember, we are all in this together, both on and off the pitch."
