A goal from James Hammond was enough to win tonight's league cup tie, Wealdstone running out 1-0 winners.
However, it must be said that the Greens were unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet, particularly in the second half when they laid siege to the Wealdstone goal. The effort and workrate from all the players was excellent, but they just couldn't quite find the reward their effort deserved.
Hammond's goal came in the 29th minute when a Hendon defensive clearance fell to him and he just ran on to the ball and returned it with interest - with the ball flying into the net giving Berkley Laurencin no chance.
So for the seventh year in a row, the Greens slipped out of the league cup at the first attempt. However, the squad will go home knowing that they gave it everything and it just wasn't to be.
