Hendon were beaten 6-3 this afternoon at Enfield Town, but the scoreline doesn't tell the whole story.
The first half was largely uneventful with Enfield not taking the lead until the second minute of stoppage time through Liam Hope.
The Greens hit back immediately after the break when substitute Jack Mazzone scored, but the home side were back in front two minutes later which knocked the stuffing out of Hendon.
Tyler Campbell made it 3-1 for Enfield in the 55th minute, before Hope completed his hat-trick with a penalty on the hour mark and a back-header four minutes later.
In the 70th minute there was a lifeline for Hendon as former defender Mark Kirby put the ball into his own net, only for Scott Cousins to do the same at the other end five minutes later to give the home side a 6-2 lead.
From here on, the Greens grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and took control, and had they taken their chances could have scored three times before Belal Aite-Ouakrim scored the goal of the game. He went on one of his trademark mazy runs and finished it with a great strike, but there was no time for the Greens to close the deficit any further.
