Hendon's FA Cup run came to an end this afternoon at Aldershot Town, but the highlight of the game was a stunning strike from Dean Cracknell.
And it was that goal that gave the Greens the lead just before the half-hour mark. Cracknell picked up a loose ball from a poor clearance about 30 yards out and took a touch before unleashing a fiercesome drive that simply flew into the net giving Glenn Morris absolutely no chance. If there is a better goal in the FA Cup this weekend - it has to be extremely special to be better than Cracknell's.
Prior to the goal, the Shots had the better of the chances, but found the Greens defensive in unforgiving mood, and Berkley Laurencin in fine form making two or three very good saves.
Hendon held on to the lead until the 56th minute when Danny Hylton finished off a well worked move. Whilst the Shots were the better side, the Greens refused to give up and worked very hard to ensure they stayed in the game, creating a few chances of their own.
However, it was Hylton who had the last say with a second goal in the 85th minute.
Despite the defeat, it was a performance that everyone connected with the club can be proud of. The players gave absolutely everything they had and can be very proud of their efforts.
Thanks must also go to our supporters, who made more noise than the home support throughout the 90 minutes - you can be equally proud of your efforts.
