Hendon reached the first round of the FA Cup for the 21st time in their history this afternoon, with a 2-1 victory over Corby Town.
It was another excellent performance from the Greens, particularly in the second half, and they thoroughly deserved their passage into the competition proper.
Corby were by far the better side in the opening exchanges, and it wasn't a surprise when Josh Moreman gave the Steelmen the lead in the 8th minute. However, Hendon gradually came back into the game and equalised in the 38th minute when Greg Ngoyi held off a strong challenge from a defender to slot the ball home.
Hendon took the lead in the 64th minute when Michael Murray fired a fierce drive beyond the keeper into the net. The Greens held out for the win, with the back four and Berkley Laurencin in commanding form once again, although it was marred by the sending off of Elliott Charles after he got involved in a fracas with a Corby defender - the Corby player also seeing red.
