The first team open their League Cup campaign tonight with a home game against Tilbury which kicks off at 7:45pm at Vale Farm.
League Cup ties no longer go to extra-time, so if scores are level after 90 minutes, we will go straight to a penalty shoot-out.
It is the first time we have faced our opponents since November 1991, when Tilbury won 3-0 in the same round of the same competition. The only other time we played them in the last 30 years was in December 1983 in the FA Trophy when we lost by the same scoreline.
Tilbury have had a very good start to the season, and currently lie 3rd in the Division One North table with 19 points from their 10 games. They lost their first league game of the season on Saturday, going down to a 1-0 defeat at home to Grays Athletic, their first defeat to their Essex rivals in 26 years.
Gary McCann is likely to rest a number of first choice players ahead of Saturday's FA Cup tie at Corby Town, but has yet to decide exactly who will be involved this evening. There is also the possiblity of one or two new faces being involved as well.
We look forward to seeing you all there this evening.
