The focus for the first team returns to the league, and specifically maintaining the hopes of reaching the play-offs at the end of the season. With the campaign rapidly coming to an end, anything less than three points against Tooting & Mitcham United tomorrow afternoon will almost certainly see the play-offs become out of reach. The Greens know that they need to win both their remaining games, and hope that Lewes, Cray Wanderers and Wealdstone all drop points somewhere in the next 9 days.
Tooting, who are already relegated, have had a troubled season, having been taken over during the season, although there are reports that the new owners may have pulled out of the club. Also, due to injuries, they were forced to go into Tuesday's game against Wealdstone without a recognised goalkeeper, striker Charlie Stimson going between the sticks in their 6-0 defeat.
THey have suffered a rotten run of form since beating champions elect Billericay Town back in January, picking up just 5 points over their last 16 fixtures, a run that has included two 6-0 home defeats, and they have been ensconsed in the relegation zone since the turn of the year.
When we met the Terrors earlier in the season, it was a comfortable afternoon for the Greens with a 3-0 victory coming courtesy of goals from Elliott Charles and Greg Ngoyi earning the points, along with an own goal.
As this is the final home game of the season - if we are involved in the play-offs it is extremely likely that both games will be away from home - don't forget that the end of season presentations will be made in the clubhouse after the game - with hot food on sale for a small fee. Drinks will be available over the bar as normal.
We hope to see a really big turnout of Hendon supporters tomorrow afternoon as we bid to keep those play-off hopes alive, not only by winning, but also by the other contenders dropping points in their games.
