Hendon suffered a disappointing defeat at Canvey Island this afternoon, losing 3-1, a result that drops the club down to sixth place.
The result was all the more disappointing after the Greens had controlle the first half, and deservedly gone in ahead courtesy of a Carl McCluskey goal in the 36th minute. Canvey rarely threatened during the opening period.
However, whilst Canvey didn't really step up their game in the second period, Hendon never got going. The home side equalised in the 55th minute, and took the lead ten minutes later. Berkley Laurencin made an excellent save from a penalty, but rather than spurring the Greens on to search for an equaliser, it was Canvey who scored again, their third and final goal coming in stoppage time.
