Hendon won last night's thrilling FA Cup replay, overcoming Ashford Town (Middlesex) 9-8 in a penalty shoot-out following a 2-2 draw in which they played the last 45 minutes with 10 men.
The Greens opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Lewis Ochoa, before Paul Johnson equalised in the 67th minute. Wayne O'Sullivan was sent off with 13 minutes to go for an elbow, leaving his teammates with a tough job to win the game.
It became even tougher when Byron Harrison gave Ashford the lead early in extra time, but Glenn Garner scored a screaming free kick as the game entered stoppage time.
The first 16 players all scored their penalty kicks, before Ashford's Vinnie O'Sullivan saw his kick well saved by James Reading. It was left to Pat O'Donnell to fire home the winning penalty, which was the cue for scenes of celebration by Hendon players and fans alike.
