Hendon's joint-longest unbeaten start to the league season since 1975 came to an end this afternoon as they were deservedly beaten 1-0 by Kingstonian.
Whilst the decisive goal came from the penalty spot, the kick converted by Bobby Traynor in the 78th minute after the well positioned referee ruled that Michael Peacock had handled the ball, it was the least that the home side deserved.
The first half hour was even, but from there on there was only one side likely to win, and that was Kingstonian, but they spurned a number of chances, whilst Berkley Laurencin made one excellent save in the second half.
Hendon weren't without their chances, but were unable to find the back of the net, and had a penalty shout of their own turned down late in the game when it appeared that Tom Hutchinson had handled the ball.
Results elsewhere mean that the Greens drop off the top of the table, although they could make an immediate return on Monday evening if they win at Wealdstone.
