Despite speculation last night on Twitter that in a shock transfer Horsham's mascot Howie the Hornet may replace our longstanding Monty the Lamb at Hendon, we are pleased to take this opportunity not only to confirm that Monty remains at the club but he has recently been working hard to return to fitness and will be returning to mascot racing circles this weekend in Wimbledon.

Monty has been invited to take part in the 2011 Womble Underground Press Mascot Obstacle Race, organised as part of the Wimbledon Common Stables Open Day to raise money for Hounds for Heroes and this evening announced that - fitness allowing - he will be taking part and is hopeful of his chances of achieving a good result.

The race is due to start at 3pm on Sunday 4th September, so if anyone is unable to make the Lewes game but is available in South London we would encourage you to try and get along to support Monty and a very good cause.
