League leaders, and current championship favourites, Sutton United are our visitors to Vale Farm this evening in what promises to be a tough challenge for the first team.
The Surrey side have won their last 5 fixtures, scoring 14 goals in the process, and on Saturday they beat Lowestoft Town 2-1 at Gander Green Lane, with Andy Forbes scoring twice before being controversially sent off for a second caution.
The Sutton squad includes three players who have worn the Green shirt. The first is Sam Page, who spent a few months with us both on loan from MK Dons and also following his release from the Coca Cola League club. Bradley Woods-Garness, who spent a period on loan with us last season, has been amongst the goals on a regular basis for Sutton this season, and the third is player-coach Steve McKimm, who played for us in the early days of his career in the mid-1990s.
We haven't played Sutton yet, we go to Gander Green Lane in March, but last season Sutton won both games, 2-1 at Vale Farm (Sam Berry scoring for us), and 3-1 at Gander Green Lane (Jamie Busby scoring our goal).
Sutton are very much one of our bogey sides. In the last 20 years (which is 27 games, allowing for the fact the game at Gander Green Lane wasn't played in 2000/01) we have won just 6 of them, the last coming in the 2002/03 season away from home. Gary McCann and the squad will be very keen to lay that bogey to one side and pick up some much needed points from the game.
At the time of writing, there are no plans for a pitch inspection, but of course, should the situation change during the day, we will update the website and the postponement hotline.
However, please be aware that should the situation change, or there be updates after 5.30pm, we will almost certainly not be able to update the website, but we will post messages to twitter, the messageboard and the postponement hotline.
Kick off at Vale Farm is at 7.45pm, the bar will be open from 6.00pm and the turnstiles will open around 7.00pm.
