The first team's rotten run of results at Tonbridge continued this evening as they lost 2-1, despite a decent performance.
The Greens were the better side for the opening half hour, and deservedly took the lead in the 10th minute through Belal Aite-Ouakrim. Tonbridge equalised in the 28th minute courtesy of an Ade Olorunda goal, the goal coming against the run of play. The Greens could, and probably should have been 2 or 3 goals ahead by this time.
The second half was more even, with Hendon creating chances but not finding the back of the net, whilst James Reading pulled off three excellent saves at the other end. However, he was beaten in the 73rd minute when Frannie Collin converted a spot kick following an unnecessary foul in the box.
The penalty turned out to be the winner as Tonbridge held on for the three points. The run of defeats at Longmead brings back memories of the rotten run of results the club had against Purfleet during the 1990s and early 2000s.
