Hendon suffered cup final disappointment in the Middlesex Senior Cup this evening for the second year in a row. This time AFC Hayes were the victors, running out 2-0 winners. Victor Owusu gave them the lead in the 8th minute, whilst the second goal came deep into stoppage time courtesy of a Dean Papali penalty. The Greens were left bemused late in the first half when what seemed a certain penalty for a foul on Kevin Maclaren was denied and the youngster was booked for diving, despite in control of the ball 6 yards from an unguarded net. The relief on the faces of the AFC Hayes players was clear to see.
The Greens were the better side for much of the game, but were unable to create much in the way of clear cut chances. The best fell to Sam Collins, but his shot was well saved by the AFC Hayes keeper, whilst a quick free kick from Jamie Busby flew just wide of the far post with the keeper stranded. However, it wasn't to be, and it was AFC Hayes who were celebrating when the final whistle blew.
