Hendon's hopes of challenging Canvey Island and Aldershot for the title this season took another blow when the Greens lost 2-0 to rivals St. Albans City. The defeat leaves the Dons seven points behind the Saints (who are just above Hendon in third place), although the Greens still have four games in hand over the Hertfordshire side. A flat pitch helped both sides to play some good football, although Hendon's attack lacked creativity, with few decent chances being created to worry Richard Wilmot. St. Albans took advantage of this in the 62nd minute, Simon Martin running clear of the defence and finishing excellently to put the Saints ahead. Martin Young sealed the three points for the away side in the 90th minute, taking advantage when the home defence lost possession around the halfway line
