Hendon moved into third place in the league this evening courtesy of a 4-1 win at St Albans City. The Dons took the lead in the 16th minute when Steve Butler buried a rebound after Ricci Crace had hit the post. The Saints replied almost immediately when Simon Martin capitalised on a loose ball to score. Hendon took control of the game in the second half and regained the lead in the 53rd minute when Crace fired home after Paul Towler had won the ball in the penalty area. Half an hour later Crace was brought down in the area by Rob Kean and the penalty was scored by Dale Binns who sent former Hendon keeper Richard Wilmot the wrong way. The final goal came four minutes later when Martin Randall fired home a free kick from 20 yards after Crace was fouled by Dominic Naylor, who was sent off for his efforts as he was the last defender.
