The first team will be focusing back on the league tomorrow evening in a home game against Bury Town, following a busy month of cup matches. Indeed, we have only played one league game since we visited Bury in the reverse fixture five weeks ago, that being a 2-2 draw at Maidstone United.
Despite the defeat at Chelmsford on Saturday afternoon, there are plenty of positives to be taken from the performance which left everyone connected with the club feeling very proud of the squad and their efforts. Everyone is keen to build on our excellent start to the league campaign where we lie in 11th place, but just three points away from the play off zone, with games in hand on all the teams above us in the table.
Bury currently sit in 6th place, three points ahead of us having played one game more. They were in league action on Saturday afternoon, when they beat Margate 1-0, thanks to a goal from James Scowcroft. Like ourselves they have made early exits from the league cup and FA Trophy, losing to Wingate & Finchley and Ashford Town (Middlesex) respectively, but they have reached the semi finals of the Suffolk Premier Cup, having beaten AFC Sudbury and then Felixstowe & Walton United over the past two Tuesday evenings.
When our two clubs last met five weeks ago, a thoroughly entertaining 2-2 draw was played out. Lee Reed and Chris Henderson were on target for Bury, whilst Belal Aite-Ouakrim equalised twice for us.
The game will kick off at the usual time of 7.45pm tomorrow, the bar will be open from 6pm, and the turnstiles will open shortly after 7pm.
