Hendon took to the field for their first friendly this evening at Boreham Wood, fielding a starting line up that contained eight players who had previously made first team appearances in the form of Dave King, Scott Cousins, Mark Burgess, James Burgess, Dave Hunt, Jaz Rose, John Frendo and the returning Rene Street. Also involved tonight from the bench were Luke Thornton and Eugene Ofori. New faces in the starting line up were Dave Nolan and Mark Nicholls from Northwood, and Richard McDonagh from Hemel Hempstead Town.
Also on the bench were Wayne Carter, also from Northwood, Usif Bangura, Spencer Nelson-Wright and Tom Woodcraft. Named in the programme but unused tonight were Dale Binns, Danny Butler (from Wealdstone) and Danny Julienne (another one from Northwood).
In a game better described as fractious rather than a friendly the Greens took the lead in the second minute when Nicholls fired home a direct free kick after Frendo had been fouled, and it was Frendo himself that doubled the lead shortly before half time. The best chance in the second half fell to Ofori who hit the post shortly before the final whistle.
