Hendon won their first tie in the Middlesex Millenium Cup with a convincing 5-2 win over Wingate & Finchley. Mark Nicholls put the Dons ahead in the 14th minute and doubled the lead just after the half hour mark. Shortly before half time, Dave King misjudged a bouncing shot from Gary Grimsdown to bring Wingate back into the game, and ten minutes after the break Sam Sloma had equalised with an excellent strike across the goal. Nicholls completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute, before Ricardo Alves fired home an unstoppable shot from a Mark Burgess cross with ten minutes to go, and a couple of minutes later Martin Vrhovski, who was playing for Wingate last season, completed the scoring with a long distance strike that Wingate keeper Michael Kalli failed to deal with.
