Despite being 4-0 ahead after an hour, Hendon then made hard work of securing progression to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup eventually beating Royston Town 4-2. Charlie Mapes put the Greens ahead after 13 minutes, and doubled the lead with a fine free-kick after 37 minutes before Lubo Guentchev made it 3-0 two minutes later. Jamie Busby scored the fourth in the 54th minute, but ten minutes later Royston pulled a goal back thanks to a Marc Leach own goal. Luke Robins scored the goal of the game, beating a number of Hendon players in the process, five minutes later. Busby was sent off with two minutes to go for a very nasty looking challenge on Lewis Endacott, who in turn had to leave the play due to his injury. The Greens managed to hold on for the win with both sides playing with 10 men as Royston had made all three substitutions before Endacott's injury. The draw for the next round will be made on Monday and announced by the FA around 1pm.
