Hendon beat Wealdstone 4-2 tonight in the George Ruffell Memorial Shield in a game that was considerably more entertaining than Saturday's. Wealdstone took the lead in the 5th minute when Brian Jones found himself in space and able to fire home. Within a minute, Danny Julienne equalised, scoring his first goal for the club, when he ran through the Wealdstone defence to score. In the 14th minute Jones scored his second goal of the game when he nipped in behind Danny Butler to stab the ball home from close range. It was all square again on the stroke of half time when Julienne also scored his second. The Greens took more control of the game in the second half, and were rewarded in the 63rd minute when John Frendo found the net, and in the 77th minute Mark Nicholls completed the scoring with a drive from the edge of the area. It was the second time that Hendon have won the shield in their fourth appearance in a match that has only been running for six years.
