The following text comes from the official FA press release regarding the poll for the Player of the Round award.
"Hendon hotshot John Frendo has been nominated for The FA's prestigious FA Cup 'Player of the Round' award after his First Qualifying Round heroics at the weekend. Frendo hit a hat-trick inside 73 minutes of Hendon's 6-0 win over Biggleswade, earning him a him a Player of the Round nomination from BBC Radio 5 Live's Mark Clemmit.
Now Hendon fans are being urged to voice their support for Frendo by voting for him in an on-line poll at www.TheFA.com. Fans have just seven days to register their support as votes must be cast by 9.00am on Monday, September 19.
Frendo is one of four players short-listed for The FA Cup Player of the Round award, run in partnership with UMBRO. The others are Goole striker Steve Davey, Halesowen's Howard Forinton and Gosport Borough's Jamie Laidlaw.
If Frendo secures the most votes, in addition to being crowned FA Cup 'Player of the Round', he will win £1000 worth of UMBRO football kit for a local school, club or organisation of his choice.
If successful, Frendo will also be the first player to join The Team of The FA Cup, guaranteeing him VIP attendance at the 125th FA Cup final that is scheduled to be the first match at the new Wembley stadium, on May 13 2006.
Frendo would also be guaranteed the chance-of-a-lifetime introduction to The FA Cup final crowd, pitch side at half-time.
Sir Trevor Brooking, The FA's Director of Football Development, said: "The FA Cup is synonymous with heroic achievements and John's performance at the weekend will be remembered by Hendon fans for many years to come.
"John thoroughly deserves to be nominated for The FA Cup Player of the Round award. Now Hendon fans have the chance to show their support by helping John win £1000 worth of UMBRO kit, to boost grass roots football in the community, and to book him a VIP place at the 125th FA Cup final in eight months time."
The Team of The FA Cup will comprise Player of the Round winners from the First Qualifying Round to the Semi Final. In the last two years several Premiership players have featured in the team alongside non-league players, including Jose Antonio Reyes, Freddie Ljungberg, Shay Given and Ruud van Nistelrooy."
