A 2-1 win over Maldon and Tiptree this afternoon saw Hendon through into the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. Hendon started the stronger of the two teams and took an early lead in the 12th minute when a corner was played to Jamie Busby on the edge of the penalty area and fired home into the top corner. However, not everything went the Greens' way and Danny Dyer was sent off after two bookings following several innocuous fouls, leaving Hendon to play the second half a man short.

However, it took just five minutes of the second half for the home side to extend their lead. A corner was played into the six yard box where Aaron Morgan showed good composure to take the ball down and lift it over the advancing Tony Tucker. The lead only lasted two minutes though, as Lee Blackburn scored the best goal of the game, firing past a helpless James Reading from around 35 yards to pull one back for the Essex side. Both sides had their chances later, both Tucker and Reading having to make good saves late on, but the Greens rarely looked in danger of losing the tie.

The draw for the 3rd Qualifying Round will be made by the FA tomorrow morning at Wembley Stadium. We will carry news of our next opposition here on Greensnet as soon as we have it.
