Hendon saw off the challenge of Hillingdon Borough tonight, winning 4-2 despite playing with ten men for almost all the second half. The reward is a home game towards the end of February against Hayes who won 3-0 at Edgware Town this evening. Hillingdon took a deserved lead in the 17th minute through Danny Tilbury as the Greens failed to perform throughout the half. Two minutes into the second period things got worse as Marc Leach was sent off for two yellow card offences in the space of a few seconds. In the 55th minute, Dean Green brought Hendon back into the game with an outstanding strike that arrowed into the top corner. Sam Byfield restored the lead for Hillingdon eight minutes later before the Greens scored three times in 7 minutes.
Firstly Lee O'Leary headed home just 90 seconds after coming on as a substitute in the 68th minute, and then Jamie Busby continued his excellent form with his fifth goal of the season three minutes later. It was Green who completed the scoring in the 74th minute with a good finish and from there the Greens saw out the game reasonably comfortably, although Richard Wilmot did have to make one excellent save towards the end of the game.
