Match Report

Hampstead Town had a fairly easy passage to the semi-final round of the Middlesex County Senior Cup, defeating S.T.D. (Sunbeam, Talbot, Darracq) works team at Acton by three goals to one.

The homesters played typical Cup-tie football, but Hampstead's superiority was marked, and after twenty minutes play they had secured a two goals' lead through Young and Travers Day. This deficit for the Works was reduced before the interval by Cherry, but eight minutes from time Travers Day again scored.

Butcher, at outside-right, strained himself in the early stages of the game, and was quite a passenger. This accident rather upset the forward line whose work was not conspicuously successful, and for a long time the home players had a big share of the play. The defence, however, was sound.

S.T.D. kicked lustily, and adopted the long passing game with success, but the shooting was not of a high standard. They also lacked the services of a player who can take advantage of corner kicks.
