Saturday 29 September - Game of two halves as Greens win

It was very much a game of two halves at Dorchester Town this afternoon as the first team ran out 3-0 winners to go third in the table - just behind the top two on goal difference.

After a dour first half where chances were at a premium, the Greens took the lead in the 51st minute when Ricardo German converted from the penalty spot. Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute, and German scored his 10th league goal, and 12th in all competitions to compete the scoring with nine minutes to go.

Next up is our FA Cup tie against Lancing. Kick off will be at 7:45pm at SJP.

Thursday 27 September - Statement - FA Youth Cup

We have today been charged by the FA for fielding an ineligible player in both rounds of the FA Youth Cup that we have played in this season. We have accepted the charge and will not be contesting it.

Unfortunately the situation has occurred due to one of our volunteers making a clerical error when registering the player in question at the start of the season. When the error came to light a few days ago, we owned up to the error and explained how it had happened.

When the hearing takes place on Monday, we fully expect to be removed from the competition and therefore we are not expecting the game against Kings Langley to go ahead on Wednesday evening.

We are also anticipating a charge from the Southern Counties Youth League, as the player has also appeared in both league games played so far this season.

As Phoenix Sports have said in their excellent statement today regarding their FA Cup explusion, you can read their statement by clicking here, we hope that those who run the game are able to find ways to make life easier for the many volunteers who are involved at clubs not only at our level, but at all levels of the game.

We would like to assure supporters that lessons have been learnt from what has happened, and we continue to support all our volunteers in the work they do for our football club.

We have just been advised by the Southern League that they had made an error, and in fact our league cup tie at Metropolitan Police will be played on Tuesday 9th October, kick off 7:45pm at Imber Court. Consequently this means our league trip to Kings Langley is reinstated and takes place as planned on Tuesday 16th October.

Of course, depending on our progress in the FA Cup, and any potential replays, there may be further changes to our fixture schedule. We will endeavour to keep you updated as and when things change.

As a consequence of our FA Cup tie against Lancing now being arranged, there are some further rearrangements required.

Our league cup tie at Metropolitan Police will now be played on Tuesday 16th October, kicking off at 7:45pm at Imber Court. This in turn means our trip to Kings Langley in the league has been postponed. A new date for this will be announced in due course.

Therefore we will be playing Lancing at home in the second qualifying round on Tuesday 2nd October at SJP, kick off 7:45pm. If a replay is required it will be at Lancing on Saturday 6th October.

If the first game sees a definite result, the winners will travel to Chippenham Town in the third qualifying round on Saturday 6th October - otherwise if there is a replay, it is likely to be played on Tuesday 9th October.

As a further consequence of this, our league cup tie at Metropolitan Police next week is postponed and a new date will be announced in due course.

Tuesday 25 September - The Giant Killers

As we await the date for our FA Cup match, maybe you'd like to see how underdogs Darwen FC, a working class team from the north of England, took on the Old Etonians back in 1879.

Ardent football fan and actor Andrew Pearson Wright has written a play "The Giant Killers", about this historic battle.

It's on at The Gatehouse Theatre, Highgate from 30th October to 4th November, and at Stantonbury Theatre in Milton Keynes on 28th October.

And because his wife, Eve Pearson Wright co-wrote it, it's appeal is not only for football fans. Anyone who is on the side of equality, social justice and passion will really enjoy this play. It premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe last year to rave reviews.

So take your partner, mum, dad or anyone who'll enjoy a special evening out as a change from watching Hendon FC. And who's to say Hendon won't be the Giantkillers of 2018? (Note that in 1883, the original Hendon club beat Old Etonians in the first round of the FA Cup!)"

Chippenham are in National League South and are currently in 6th place with 18 points from 10 games.

At the time of writing, we have not heard anything more from the FA regarding our tie against Phoenix Sports. As soon as we hear anything, we will of course update through the website and our social media channels.

Thursday 20 September - Full details of FA Youth Cup victory

We now have full details on the under 18's FA Youth Cup win last night. The website team are grateful to Nigel Kyte and Chris Rogers for kindly emailing us today with the information.

The youngsters took the lead in the 10th minute when Patrick Connolly shot across the keeper, and by all accounts should have been further ahead at half-time as they spurned a number of chances. Chalfont St Peter equalised within five minutes of the second half starting, but in the 64th minute Theo Ofori put the Greens back in front, netting from a narrow angle on the right, and Ofori scored again in the 80th minute, firing home at the near post with the keeper wrong footing. The visitors pulled a goal back with six minutes to go with a vicious hooked volley, before Victor Cadenas Soto found the top corner with a superb strike from 25 yards in the 87th minute.

Team: James Reilly, Nathan Kpemou, Deon Marshall (Philip Essondoh), Victor Cadenas Soto, Taylor Rand Brade, Eisa Azab, Hadi Issa, Daniel McNair, Theo Ofori, Patrick Connolly (Hassan Al-Murtada), Shammar Swaby (Khalil Francis-Ouwaha). Unused sub: Jordan Carroll

As we advised yesterday, we are anticipating that the draw for the second qualifying round will be made tomorrow. We'll get the information on the draw out through the usual channels as soon as we can.

Tuesday 18 September - Young Greens defeated in London Senior Cup

A young side, made up of fringe first teamers and under 23 players, were beaten 3-2 at Harrow Borough, who fielded a strong side, in the London Senior Cup this evening.

The only Greens player aged over 22 was skipper for the night Matty Newman, whilst Ben Gray, Edwin Mensah, Cheyce Grant and Jordan Payne all made their debuts, whilst Mickey White made his first appearance since the 2016-17 season having returned to the club this summer as part of the under 23 side.

It was a tough start for Hendon as they went 3-0 down in the first eleven minutes, Ant O'Connor opening the scoring before Dylan Kearney, who left the Greens a couple of weeks ago, marked his first start for Harrow with two quickfire goals.

However, the Greens didn't let their heads drop, and pulled a goal back in the 21st minute through Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick - his first for the club.

The second half saw the Greens have the better of the game, and the better of the chances, and their effort and workrate was rewarded with 10 minutes to go when White scored his first senior goal, but the youngsters were unable to fashion an equaliser.

Despite the defeat, the young Greens came away from the game with a lot of credit, with the only disappointing note - other than the defeat - being the injury suffered by Gray late in the first half.

Theo Ofori restored the lead early in the second half, only to see Haringey score again, but the game was won as Ofori went on to score two more goals to secure all three points.

Tuesday 11 September - Ten man Greens progress in FA Cup

The first team, who ended up playing 55 minutes with ten men, showed real character and desire to beat Harlow Town 2-1 after extra time in the FA Cup replay this evening. Their reward, together with the £6,000 prize money, is a home tie against Phoenix Sports who won 3-0 at Lancing in their replay. The tie will be played at SJP on Saturday 22nd September.

On a mild but wet night, the first half was goalless, with chances at a premium. The Greens were reduced to ten men in the 64th minute when Prince Mbengui picked up his second yellow card, but in the 77th minute Romario Jonas headed home to give the Greens the lead. However, Harlow equalised as the game moved into stoppage time, J.J. Da Cruz the scorer.

The home side put the Greens under plenty of pressure in the opening exchanges of extra time but gradually seemed to run out of ideas, with the Hendon back line keeping them at bay.

The winner came from the penalty spot with two minutes to go. Ricardo German, who had worked very hard all night without any reward, was clipped by the Harlow keeper, and German stepped up to convert the spot kick with aplomb.

Saturday 08 September - FA Cup tie ends in stalemate

This afternoon's FA Cup tie against Harlow Town ended in stalemate with the scoreline being a goal apiece.

It was a closely fought game, with both sides having periods when they were on top. Both goals came in the first half, Christian Adu Gyamfi putting the Hawks ahead in the 25th minute when he beat Danny Boness to a loose ball, before Ricardo German scored his eighth goal of the campaign a few minutes later.

Both sides had chances in the second half, but were unable to convert them, either missing the target, or finding goalkeepers and defenders in the way.

The replay will take place on Tuesday evening at Barrows Farm, kicking off at 7:45pm, meaning our London Senior Cup tie at Harrow Borough will be rearranged for a later date.

The draw for the second qualifying round will be made on Monday, and is due to be released around 1pm.

Wednesday 05 September - Under 23 fixtures released

The under 23 fixtures have been released and they will begin their Middlesex FA Under 23 League campaign with a trip to CB Hounslow United in the week commencing Monday 1st October. The actual day of the game will be confirmed soon.

There are five teams in the league, and we will play each of our opponents three times during the season. The other three teams are Harrow Borough, Hayes & Yeading United and Hanwell Town. It is hoped that the league will grow in future seasons, and rumours that you can only take part if you are representing a part of Middlesex that starts with 'H' are unfounded!

There is also expected to be a cup competition arranged, and our Under 23s will also be playing in the Middlesex Premier Cup, in which they have been drawn at home to Deportivo Galacia, the game will be played on Wednesday 21st November at SJP.

The under 23 home games will take place on Wednesday evenings, kicking off at 7:30pm.

Tuesday 04 September - FA Youth Cup win for young Greens

An under 18 side made up of players from our new academy side and our Southern Counties under 18 side progressed to the first qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 3-2 win at Hanwell Town.

In what was a closely fought contest, the young Greens took the lead through Theo Ofori in the 18th minute with the only goal of the opening period.

Hanwell equalised in the 48th minute, but Patrick Connolly restored the lead in the 52nd minute only to see Hanwell equalise again five minutes later. The winner came in the 72nd minute when Connolly netted his second of the night shortly after the Greens had seen a penalty saved by the home keeper.

The final 20 minutes saw Hanwell pile on the pressure, but they were unable to find a way through and it was the Greens who progressed to face either Spelthorne Sports or Chalfont St Peter who are due to play their tie tomorrow evening.

TEAM: James Reilly, Phillip Essandoh, Deon Marshall, Victor Cadenas-Soto, Taylor Rand-Brade, Eisa Azab, Hadi Issa, Michael Koscien, Theo Ofori, Patrick Connolly, Jovann Monroe. Used subs : Edward Adjei Obeng, Jordan Carroll, Kale Stewart. Unused sub : Mo Alamiri.

Sunday 02 September - Under 18s in FA Youth Cup on Tuesday

With no first team game this week, why not pop along to Hanwell Town on Tuesday evening as our under 18s play in the FA Youth Cup tie.

The preliminary round tie kicks off at 7:45pm and admission is £3 adults and £1 for under 16s. All are welcome to attend.

Meanwhile, the youngsters were in action earlier today as they won 8-0 against Chorleywood with Khalil, who is just 16 years old and played for the under 23s on Friday evening, scoring a hat-trick. Oliver netted twice, whilst Jovann and Shammar were also on the scoresheet - we don't know who scored the other goal.

Saturday 01 September - Solitary goal enough for three points

The first team returned to winning ways this afternoon at Swindon Supermarine, with a solitary goal proving to be enough to pick up three points.

The Greens started brightly and were rewarded with a goal in the 7th minute when Howard Hall set up Gianni Crichlow who fired a shot across the goal and bounce off the post into the goal. Hendon had the better of the play in the remainder of the first period, but were unable to test the keeper.

The second half was the scrappier half of the game, with neither side really grabbing hold of the match. The Hendon goal led a bit of a charmed life - with a number of crosses going across the box without being turned home, but it must be said that once again the effort from the squad was outstanding as they showed their determination to keep a clean sheet and ensure they took all three points back to London.
