Appeared in the 1994 World Cup for Bulgaria, scoring an all important penalty against Mexico, which, after disposing of Germany, ultimately took them to the Semi-Final against finalists, Italy. He also appeared during Euro #96. This talented international originally joined Hendon in August #99, scoring his first goal for the club against Canvey Island in the home League match. He had an exceptional game for Hendon against Blackpool in the F.A. Cup during the 1999/2000 season and was unlucky not to score twice. Bontcho, made 72 appearances, scoring 11 goals in his first term which ended at the close of the 00/01 season with his supposed retirement. During his career he has also played for Luton Town, Ipswich Town and also CSKA Sofia. Bontcho rejoined the club in early Oct '06 to assist Gary McCann & Freddie Hyatt on the coaching side and still gets the odd game in now and then.
