Young outside-left signed from Goole Town in November 1932 as a replacement for Eric Gibbs. Had already played for Arsenal "A" team, so may have been recommended to the club by the Arsenal manager who lived in Hendon. Suffered from lameness in several matches in first season and also lost form.
Played mainly at inside-left in 1933-34 with Charlie Drinkwater outside him. Left the club in summer 1934, signing for Margate, then a nursery club for the Arsenal.
