Hendon's preparations for the new campaign continued on Friday night as they won 2-0 at Hayes & Yeading United, in the first game to be played in the new SkyEx Community Stadium.
The new ground, with its impressive stand, is still a work in progress, but together with the 3G facility outside the ground, shows that Hayes & Yeading's future is finally secure following five years leading a nomadic existence - something that Hendon fans can empathise with.
The first two chances of the game fell to Karl Oliyide - the first of which saw him have to take an extra touch which took him away from goal before shooting over, and the second which saw home keeper Louis Wells ensure he was unable to find target.
However, the scoring was opened in the 13th minute when Dale Binns received the ball on the edge of the area, and fired a shot across Wells into the far corner of the net. It was a goal just like the many he scored for the Greens in his first spell with the club.
In the 26th minute, Niko Muir was fouled 25 yards from goal. Spencer McCall stepped up to take the free kick, and curled the ball beautifully into the top corner of the net, leaving Wells a mere spectator despite his meticulous positioning of his wall.
Up to this point, the Greens had most of the possession, but as the half went on the home side tried to create chances, but found the back line of Chris Seeby, Mayowa Balogun and Luke Tingey, together with Berkley Laurencin in goal, in unforgiving form.
The second half continued in a similar vein. The hosts had plenty of possession, but other than a couple of goalline clearances, they were unable to find a way past the solid Hendon rearguard.
Meanwhile the best chance at the other end fell late on to Kezie Ibe, but his strike was straight at Wells - a yard either side and it would have hit the back of the net.
