Hendon and Hitchin Town played out an entertaining, and occasionally eventful friendly at Top Field, where the new floodlights were given their debut.
The kick off was delayed by half an hour due to traffic problems on the M1 and A1, and just five minutes into the game there was a flashpoint. A rash challenge from the home side sparked a brawl involving members of both teams, substitutes, with both managerial teams trying to calm things down.
After order had been restored, the referee dismissed Dave Diedhiou, reducing the Greens to ten men, and then also showed the red card to Brett Donnelly and Callum Donnelly, reducing the home side to nine men.
However, despite the one man advantage, it took a while for the Greens to take the lead. This came when Dale Binns made a good run through midfield, and slid the ball into the path of Spencer McCall who slammed the ball into the net.
The home side refused to give up, and often belied their man disadvantage, and deservedly equalised when Daniel Webb slid the ball home at the far post.
Both sides made a number of changes at the break and through the second half, and the Canaries took the lead in the 47th minute through Robbie Burns.
The second half saw both sides have plenty of possession but unable to find the net, until the final minute when Andre Da Costa was fouled in the box. He stepped up and took the penalty, sending the keeper the wrong way.
