Match Report

Hampstead Town, who entertained their old cup tie opponents, Luton Amateurs, in a friendly encounter, won an interesting match by four goals to two. Although the opposition was below Athenian league standard, the match served the most useful purpose of displaying some of the additional talent at the disposal of the club. Of the four new men on trial, D.H. Clark, at right half, was an outstanding success, and fortunately E.T. McCracken's ability as goalkeeper is well known to the club's supporters, as he was not thoroughly tested on this occasion. E. Cantrell, who played at outside right, but is really a left back, also gave a good display, and in subsequent games will be tried in his correct position.

For the encouragement of the new chums, apparently Hampstead's three inside forwards in this match played a greatly improved game, particularly in the first half, when both Travers Day and C. Wise gave an exhibition of first time shooting, the former scoring a splendid goal in this manner. F. Young, who is proving his worth at inside right, scored twice before the interval, and once after. For Luton, W. Day and Morris scored.
